"We use One Call Now to connect with our students who attend our church. We began to realize that they are not reading the mail, but rather checking email…text messaging…and cell phones. At the Old Bridge Baptist Church in East Brunswick, New Jersey, we have a vibrant group of people who try to support each other on a daily basis in prayer, especially when sickness or accident strikes. When I became pastor of the church, however, I discovered quickly that, although people had the best of intentions, often the "prayer chain" suffered from broken links. Theoretically, a person in need would call me, I would call the church elders, they would each call a person or two assigned to them, and so on. In practice, however, calls were not completed, messages were garbled, and often half of the prayer chain never received the message to pray at all. I regularly received complaints from those who missed the message, but I could do little more than say, "I'm sorry, there's not much I can do about people not passing the word or garbling the message." We sincerely thank God for One Call Now--Since beginning to use One Call Now, everyone stays informed and complaints are nonexistent. In addition, my time is used making one call instead of tracking down multiple parties or leaving many messages. One Call Now has not only saved me countless hours on the phone for the prayer chain, it has also been useful to cancel events due to weather, and having access to sub-groups makes reminding the Board or the Choir about meetings quick and easy. Anyone who has had small children or worked in schools knows that lice is a common problem. Yes, terribly annoying and a nuisance, but what happens when parents don’t understand that this is a common problem occurring in every school? Barnert Temple’s Preschool is well known for its sensitivity to the well-being of its approximately 70 children, and for its attentiveness to parents’ concerns and fears. This winter’s epidemic of lice was managed successfully due to our use of One Call Now’s automated call system. As the epidemic spread, we needed to reassure parents, as well as educate them about the problem. Questions needed to be answered. We soon discovered our E-mail messages to the Preschool parents weren’t doing it; they weren’t able to convey the personal attention that is a hallmark of our Preschool. Worried and sometimes angry parents needed to hear the voice of our highly regarded Preschool Director. They needed to be reassured that she was effectively managing the situation and monitoring progress toward resolution. They needed to hear it directly from her, in her own words; they needed to hear her voice. That was when we hit upon a plan. Our Preschool Director would use One Call Now to record messages describing how we were responding to the epidemic and what experts were consulted. Numerous messages were sent over a period of four weeks, until we were certain that parents were satisfied with our response and the epidemic had passed. Lice, though common, is not a serious health issue (as we made clear in our phone messages). The automated phone messages enabled us to calm parents’ fears, lessen their anxiety, and reassure them that the Preschool Director was indeed in control of the situation.

Basically at my current synagogue we call over 800 names to let them know when a member has died, where and when the funeral will take place. When I first began with OneCall Now I used it pretty much straightforward by just entering each of my parents phone numbers for each child on our youth soccer team. After a while I noticed that some messages would go to "extra" phones and leave unnecessary messages for instance on a home phone if we were traveling as a team out of state however it would go to the parents cell phone....etc... Solution: I made two subgroups out of our Soccer Team. The first is a group of home phone numbers and the second is a group of cell phone numbers for each parent. Thus with two subgroups of phone numbers I could just call the appropriate set of phones that I think will best get our message to the group without "extra" unwanted messages. For instance, when we arrive in the spring for practice at our field sometimes the weather quickly changes and 10 minutes before practice is about to begin we have to cancel it due to a heavy downpour of rain thus I only need to call everyone's cell phone since most families are in their cars at that time. Another example is when we are traveling at tournaments out of home area many times a field assignment or game time will change slightly and I need to communicate to everyone at the hotel or tournament sight the change. Again, just calling the cell phone subgroup helps to deliver the message without calling everyone's home phone which is not applicable. Lastly, in some cases, the opposite is true and I just want to call the home phones. Occasionally, I may need to send out a reminder about the weekend upcoming game or practice schedule in the evening and since most people are home and it is not a priority message I just send my message to everyone's home phone number. SIMPLE and DIRECT COMMUNICATION that is efficient! That is how One Call Now helps me manage our busy and changing schedule in the youth soccer world more easily, saving ME a lot of time and energy!!

"I discovered One Call Now several years ago when I started coaching a girls summer fastpitch tournament team. During the weekend tournaments the team has their first game scheduled and all games after that point are determined by the previous games status. If the team wins you play again at one time on a certain field and if you lose you play again at a different time and field. Games are continuously happening on eight to ten different fields from Friday evening to Sunday evening. It is almost impossible to keep up with the families of 12 players and keep them informed on game times and fields. With the One Call Now service I was able to program each families home phone number and their cell phone numbers into the database. Using my cell phone I am able to keep each and every family completely informed at all times so that our teams are on the fields and ready to go at the appropriate times. Time between games is used to go over the previous game, come up with new game plans, eat and rest. The One Call Now service makes it possible to use the time to do this and not run around a complex trying to locate and give information to 12 families. "I am personnel manager for an industrial construction company. We are always in need of different crafts. I send message to all my workers, and I can fill the positions within 15 minutes. Since I am a one man show, I cannot call more than 15 people per hour along with regular phone calls and interviews. For example, if I need a crane operator, I print a list of who has called and checked in to the out of work list in the last 3 months. I set up a group (temporary), go in and highlight the names off of the master roster, and send the message. Then I will go back and delete that temporary group. Now that I have 25 groups, I can go in and set up each of the crafts that I need."

Our local Fire Safe Council in San Diego County has been an extremely satisfied customer of One Call Now for four years. During last October's wildfires, we made three calls to our 4,000 subscribers. The first warned them to get ready for a possible evacuation, the second told them that we were being evacuated, and the third advised them that they could return home. Even though most of these subscribers had two or three phone numbers in the data base, it only took four minutes to deliver our message with a zero failure rate! In contrast, our county government's Reverse 9-1-1 system took more than an hour to deliver the same volume of calls and had a 50% failure rate. Fast, reliable, and inexpensive...what more can you ask for?

Before we started using One Call Now, last minute changes or announcements to parents or staff used to take me hours. "One Call Now has been an outstanding tool for the Knights of Columbus of Blessed Sacrament Parish in San Antonio. Before we had this system we were using a phone tree and email to contact each of the members. The phone tree broke down every single time.
